Introduction
Dubai Concept Home is a revolutionary architectural asset that innovates upon the traditional Emirati home that are sure to generate incredible experiences. Careful thought was taken into every single functional area of the home creating inviting experiences while also keeping in mind the privacy considerations vital to a traditional Arab household. The model home, based on a 3D printed concrete base frame, will be able to be constructed anywhere using local sands and materials to create the adhesive concrete paste used to print the walls plus using local finishes for both walls and flooring.
Role
At FORMM we accepted the challenge of crafting a unique and luxurious experience within a 15 by 20 lot , achieving an openness to the home while maintaining the privacy needed from the road present. By following this privacy oriented solution, we at FORMM developed a lattice façade created from organic palm fiber that provides privacy while letting in light and creating a reflective barrier that also allows air turbulence within the lattice to act as a thermal insulator.
Highlights
Privacy focused design: The house finds a balance between privacy and being open and does this with the use of our innovative lattice walls and strategically placed windows that allow members of the home to see outward while preventing those on the outside from seeing inwards.
Focus on innovation: By using a 3D printed concrete base frame, we are able to construct this home model in basically any environment known to man with virtually no human input. The use of this in collaboration with lattice walls allows the thermal insulation of the house to be greatly improved while comparing it to a traditional brick & mortar model.
Tradition & Modernity: The house contains 3 full bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms, merging both western and Arab styles to create the perfect home for the modern Emirati. The home also includes a spacious back yard, several indoor gardens, a full kitchen, dining and living room area plus a Majil and studio to receive guests. The house also contains all modern commodities like a separate pantry, laundry room, maids room and drivers room. Which Emirati families are accustomed to.
