Introduction
San Modesto is a residential project located 15 minutes from Mérida. This development proposes a different way of living with nature as it is the main focus of the development. At FORMM, we set out to create a profitable, sustainable and different development. That could function as a watershed for much greater development. A great and renovated Yaxcucul. For us, it was a priority to keep the original idea of the project in mind and adapt it to what a modern and cutting-edge development requires.
Role
At FORMM we accepted the challenge of crafting a unique and luxurious experience in a new development area within the city of Merida Yucatan, we decided to create a space that played homage to the ancient traditions of the are, while allowing the amenities and design principals of modern architecture to blend harmoniously with the surroundings.
Highlights
Focus on tradition: The draws inspiration from the mayan and colonial roots of the area, bringing an homage of cultures together with a modern twist.
Focus on nature and sustainability: By using raw materials we are able to bring that natural feeling within and mix it with the intensity of functional design, we are also able to minimize costs by allowing materials to shine in their natural way.
Efficiency and Function: The studio allows for a full class of 14 students to exercise simultaneously, it also allows the coach to roam around freely thanks to additional space between students. This additional space was achieved by minimizing installation space and using the exercise equipment itself as decoration along the back walls. The Studio also has a spacious lobby, store, toilet and storage unit, all integrated in a way that makes the space seem as one.
